Ohio Department of Medicaid’s new rule may provide opportunities for pharmacists to connect and strengthen relationships with patients

In February 2021, the Ohio Department of Medicaid implemented a new rule that went into effect for pharmacists to enroll as recognized providers. Ohio is one of the few states to pay pharmacists as providers and the new rule authorizes pharmacists, like Klein’s Pharmacy, to perform additional clinical activities with patients by allowing reimbursement.

With this important provider status, we are more accessible as decision-makers, being able to offer services such as managing medication therapy, administrating a wider range of immunizations, and more.
